'When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there - you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began'.
What a thrilling thought, that God himself wanted a family and he chose you to be His child. None of the Angels could fit that role, only mankind. And what makes it even more thrilling is that there's a book in heaven that that contains the destiny that he has for you. Those dreams that you have, those character traits, the interests that you have and your gifting are all written in that book. Even the days allotted to you, how long you will live and what your purpose on the earth is. The problem is that most people are frustrated because they know they were created for more than what they have experienced.
When God said let's make man in our image and likeness, it reminds me of the time my husband and I decided to start a family. We had to plan for all the things we would need in anticipation of our babies arrival. God is the perfect father. Those who have had children or are expecting will remember how you prepared for their arrival. The room was decorated and colours were chosen carefully often with matching furniture, carpets and blinds - all the things to make the nursery perfect! Now I realise that not everyone is in a position to do this, but I do believe that most parents have a dream of how they would like things to look. Then there's the pram, the cot, baby clothes, nappies, and feeding equipment and all the other things that the baby will need to be taken well care of. Family and friends add their joy to that of the parents. Everything is prepared for the arrival of your child. All the baby does is arrive on the appointed day. A baby can do nothing to earn what is provided for them, the love, the care etc. The baby simply receives, and they sure let you know when something upsets them! This is a natural picture of what is in God's heart for His family, you and me. God created the perfect environment for Adam before he made him. All Adam had to do was enjoy the garden, rule over it and maintain his inheritance.
Good parents dream about what their children might achieve. Some are able to save for their children's education and look for the best schools. Every good parent wants their children to achieve more than they did, in order to have a better life . a good parent looks for the gold in their children and does their best to help them become the very best version of themself.
In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve allowed satan to deceive them into eating the fruit from the forbidden tree, the tree of good and evil, with the suggestion that as they ate the fruit they would become like God. The sad part was that they already had relationship with him. They were already like him, they spent time walking and talking with him in the cool of the evening. How sad that deception allowed satan to steal their birthright!
An identity thief works through deception and lies. They have no moral compass. They want what is rightfully yours and will stop at nothing to get it. The motivation is greed and jealousy.
The thief isn't concerned about the consequences of stealing your birthright and blessing. He isn't concerned about the damage it may cause you in the process. His only concern is to hurt you and hurt God by destroying you. Even Jesus had to deal with identity theft.
Jesus told them, " Don't let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming ' I am the messiah'. They will deceive many."
He will use your disappointments, the death of a loved one, sickness, a financial need. Sometimes you will recognise it and sometimes you won't. When you allow your emotions to rule you so that you stop depending on God and begin depending on yourself and others that's when you begin to doubt the goodness of God.
The enemy is a thief, but he can't keep what he steals because Jesus took it all back at the cross. That's good news! Time to take back what is rightfully yours!
I wan to leave you with some final thoughts.
You are your Father's happy thought! In the film Hook ( God often talks to me through films), Robin Williams played the part of Peter Pan who was on a mission to save his children from the bad guy, Captain Hook. Peter had forgotten who he was and couldn't remember how to fly. Tinkerbell was trying to get Peter to remember so that he could lead the Lost Boys, defeat Hook and rescue his children.Once Peter remembered his happy thought (his children) the knowledge came flooding back to him. As he remembered he began to fly!
It's time to remember that you are your heavenly Father's happy thought. The Holy Spirit is reminding you so that you can take back your rightful identity and inheritance. His love is unconditional, whether you get it right or wrong, whether near or distant. You will always be His happy thought.
"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them: they outnumber the grains of sand!"
Our significance isn't meant to come from what we do! Our significance comes from the one whose image and likeness we are made in!
"What is going on in your head will make or break you: because your thoughts determine your words and your words determine your actions." Jerry Saville.
