What kind of Gatekeeper are you?

Writer: Chris FinnChris Finn

Be a gatekeeper to the supernatural!

“Our Father in heaven,

may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon.

May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins,

as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation but rescue us from the evil one. “Matthew 6:9-13 NLT

Heaven’s door has never been closed to earth, the problem has always been earths response towards heaven. Maybe a culture has been created within the church that puts trust in programmes and formulas to grow them, heal the sick and make us feel great that we have people who value gathering together. And this might be enough for some. However, there is a growing number of Christians whose deepest desire is to connect to the reality of the heavenly realms.

Each one of us was born for adventures of the God kind.

Maybe we should be asking, how do we connect to the heavenly realm and bring heaven down to earth?

We are hearing a lot about re-digging wells of revival and the opening of portals, all exciting stuff and I have experienced, like so many of you, so much in the presence of the Holy Spirit, but I truly believe that God has given the ecclesia the responsibility of being gatekeepers to the supernatural realm! To open the door to heavens resources.

Have we opened heavens door on earth, for which we as gatekeepers are responsible, or has it remained closed in our lives?

It's in the Glory of His presence that we find peace for our soul, the peace that makes us whole.

I would like to offer the revelation that I have received from personal times with the Holy Spirit as well as what I have observed and experienced in my own church and meetings where the Holy spirit has been given control.

Prayer, worship and faith open the door to heavens resources.

When I was leading a church, we would often have extended nights of worship, often to a playlist, we would stand, kneel or lie in His presence, raise our hands and voices, seeking his face. Often, we would meet on a Thursday night and continue nightly, the atmosphere would be charged with His presence. Come Sunday morning as we would all gather, we experienced a season where there was a mist that hung over where the musicians would stand, that could be plainly seen. People would fall under the anointing, some would have visions, others lay still, some cried, some laughed basking in the presence of his love.

When God is in the house you don’t have to advertise a meeting!

Does God tantalise us with these kinds of meetings then say, ‘that’s it, you’ve had enough, I’m off!’ No, I don’t believe that he does. We change, we want control, we want to market this ‘move’ of God and often in so doing we kill or stop the very thing that we wanted the most. We try to replicate it in our own strength, forgetting that the very place we need to be is on our knees!

We were weak in our prayer life! Corporate prayer. We had a wonderful intercession group but rarely met with them. There was a lack of honour towards them! If you are a church leader and are gifted a group of intercessors, then please value them, meet with them, listen and share with them. What they receive from the lord could well be the strategy needed to keep the enemy at bay or open a window of heaven. They are there to assist in bringing heaven to earth.

This is our position, ‘And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).Eph 2:6

‘But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.’1 Cor 6:17

It’s a place of rest, having a heavenly perspective. So often we look at our lives, our situations from an earthly perspective, what we don’t have and often come in agreement with the words of our enemy. But when we look from a heavenly perspective our situations are but shadows in comparison to the resources of heaven.

“…… Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

The shadow of a dog never bit anyone!

There is a door in the heavenly realms that anyone who will pay the price can open.

“Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”

Rev 4:1

There are three heavens, the first is where we dwell, the second heaven is where the enemy lives, “In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. Put on the full armour of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armour of a heavily armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Eph 6:10-12Amp

And the third heaven (1 Kings 8:27) is where Jesus is seated at the right hand of the father.

We are seated together with Him in heavenly places, so our spiritual position is a third heaven perspective.

Through prayer and worship, we have direct access to the third heaven, the very seat of God himself!

The enemy has placed what I would call a membrane over the atmosphere, but in reality, its powerless as scripture tells us:

“ When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross.” Colossians 2:15AMP

The invitation is to go up, through the open door in prayer, in humility and obedience, individually and corporately. Jesus has been knocking at our door for a very long time. When we open that door there is a corresponding door open in heaven!

Jacob had the following dream.

“ He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord,” Genesis 28:12

“Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?”

Hebrews 1:14 AMPC

There are portals that we can have access to. We have been given the ability to not only have access but to see into the heavenly realms, good and bad. Humility and obedience in prayer opens heaven to us.

We are called to be pro-active gatekeepers, the guardians of the heavenly realms! The call is to bring heaven down to earth, to be pro-active, purposeful and

intentional to break the barrier, the membrane the enemy has put into the atmosphere, but it’s powerless against God’s provision.

Like a woman in childbirth, when the membrane, waters burst, a baby’s arrival is imminent. However, some pushing is required to help the baby through the birth canal. That child when born has a voice of its own!

Likewise, when we go through heavens door in prayer and worship the atmosphere is pregnant with the presence and provision of God.

When heaven is opened faith has to be released for the kingdom to be demonstrated.

Faith has a voice. In faith we speak and declare with words of Knowledge, gifts of healing, working of miracles, the words and revelations of the Holy Spirit. Signs, wonders, miracles Like Jesus we can do what we see and hear the father seeing and saying!

It all flows from a place of rest, from the secret place of prayer, worship and faith!

"You can’t go in faith where you haven’t gone in intimacy." Bill Johnson
